Sustainable Finance: Turning Climate Challenges into Growth Opportunities

The impact of climate change is intensifying every year. Korea’s flooding and the extreme droughts in many parts of the world this summer remind us that the debate is no longer about “why” but “how” to pursue sustainability. Before it gets too late, we need to take action to save the earth. To take action, we need huge amount of investment to transform the world’s economy. In other words, energy transition from fossil fuels to clean energy and electrification and building of green physical assets such as infrastructure would require massive global capital. Businesses should also develop business models that can withstand the impact of climate change. None of these can be achieved without financing. This is why financial institutions are leading the way driving the climate agenda and connecting investors to corporates. As a bank that has the extensive network in Asia, HSBC believes that the fastest growing Asia will be the pivotal frontier in addressing the climate crisis. On that crucial journey, Korean corporates have an important role to play as one of the largest investors in the region. Sustainability is an imminent challenge but it also offers opportunities for growth for Asian economies and businesses. #hsbc #sustainable #finance ☆ WKF | http://www.wkforum.org/WKF/2021/kr/ ☆ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/worldknowledgeforum/ ☆ Youtube│https://www.youtube.com/wkforum ✻ World Knowledge Forum's lecture contents are copyrighted by Maekyung Media Group.
