How AI is Helping Elderly and Single-Person Household?

How AI is Helping Elderly and Single-Person Household? Global Case Studies Including Korea | Min Sun Kim (Museum of Korean American Heritage, Founder & President), Ron Kim (Member of the New York State Assembly from the 40th district) Korea is a super-aged society with an elderly population of 10 million; more than 20% of the population is over 65. As Social distancing due to the covid-19 pandemic brought contact-free lifestyle, the risk for depression and social isolation in elderly population emerged as serious social problems. The society is desperately in need for senior care and emergency relief grants but challenges such as a huge cost for senior care, a social welfare workforce shortage and insufficient support from the public sector with only charity-based support due to institutional constraints remain for the governments and local authorities to address. On a brighter note, aside from providing support to socially vulnerable groups, there are opportunities for various industries to tap in the market targeting financially independent 'active' seniors beyond 'passive' seniors with a rising demand for aging in place (AIP) and preventive care to lead a healthy elderly life. Korea isn't the only country trying to respond to social challenges posed by the super-aged society. Advanced countries such as the U.S. is seeking various policies and industrial development to address problems with elderly care before and after the pandemic. This session invites experts from Korea and abroad to highlight the recent AI technology of major tech companies and startups' on-site care services, and share best practices on public-private partnerships for providing AI based care services integrated with the national budget and further development plans. As we are entering a super-aged society, experts will provide insights on how governments, local authorities and companies should prepare for a new paradigm shift. #Elderly #Digital #Alienation WKF | https://www.wkforum.org/WKF7/2022/en/ Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/WorldKnowledgeForum/ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/worldknowledgeforum/ Twitter | https://twitter.com/wkforum YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/wkforum ✻ World Knowledge Forum's lecture contents are copyrighted by Maekyung Media Group.
