Why do people indulge in conspiracy theories?│Michael Shermer (Skeptic magazine, Founding Publisher)

Conspiracy theories are often mentioned when something that may become a social issue occurs. This year, the year of the global election, was also covered by a number of conspiracy theories around the world. It's a groundless story, but many people believe and spread it. Words that have spread like that can sometimes be dull as true. The problem is that these conspiracy theories affect not only the person involved in the incident but also society as a whole. Michael Shermer, an American science writer and scientific skeptic, has been at the forefront of the skepticism movement, working with Jared Diamond and Richard Dawkins to find out what the truth is against pseudo-science, creationism, superstition, and conspiracy theories. In this session, he, the publisher and editor of the Skeptical Science Journal Skeptic, will explain why people easily fall into conspiracy theories. #skeptic #michaelshermer #conspiracy Copyright ⓒ Maeil Business Newspaper.
